Our
Services: Web Site Services
We have been involved in Web design and programming since the
World Wide Web was introduced in the early 90's. Prior to that,
we spent many hours browsing the Internet via Archie and the various
Gopher searches. Since then, we have followed the development
of the Web and acquired a wide range of skills. We provide design,
maintenance, update and hosting.
Web Site Design
Our Web design process starts with a client meeting to determine
what you want and need from a Web site. During this process, we
go over our Web design worksheet with the customer. Once the worksheet
has been completed, we are able to provide a general estimate
of the time and cost for the project. These factors are then written
into the project contract.
Based on your business model and your vision of what you want
the site to accomplish, we then create an overall theme for the
site that implements that vision. The theme includes graphics,
layout characteristics, colors and overall structure. Once the
basic theme (or "look and feel") of the site is approved,
we create the site using your content. We have well-defined
standards for enhancing your content via programming languages,
Internet and Web protocols and services.
In addition to enhancing your content, we also provide a range
of advanced services that improve and/or add to the Web experience
for customers visiting your site. These services are summarized
below:
Contact
Form /
Feedback Form |
A Web form allows your customers to contact you directly
without having to use their e-mail program. |
| Domain Name Registration |
The domain name (or URL) is the Web page or Web site's
address (or electronic location) on the Internet. If you
prefer, we can take care of this for you for a slight cost.
Registration will be in your name. |
| Mailing List Setup/Administration |
Mailing lists allow a business to communicate with their
customers, other businesses and their employees. TLC Media
can set up mailing lists as well as maintain them for you. |
| Database Design |
Some Web sites require a dedicated database in order to
provide the functions and/or services that the client requires.
We are able to do this design and programming in-house. |
| eNewsletter Design |
An eNewsletter is an electronic version of the "What's
New" sheets or other pamphlets that a brick-and-mortar
business keeps on hand to provide to customers. We can either
adapt your existing design or create a design that works
with and complements your existing materials. If you do
not have existing materials, we can create these for you. |
| Still Image Creation |
We create or use royalty-free stock images that match
the overall theme of the site. |
| Animations |
We can create custom animations for logos or other uses. |
| Web Photography |
We can work with you to create and include still images
or video on your Web site. |
| Web Content Creation |
Normally, content is provided by the client. However,
we can provide descriptive content regarding your business,
products and/or services, focusing on using keywords to
improve placement and findability in search engines. |
| Proofreading and
Editing |
Ensures that materials that you provide for the Web are
grammatically and thematically correct. |
| Web Publishing |
In our view, an unpublished Web site is only half finished.
Publishing the site ensures that it is listed in the major
search engines and local and national directories relevant
to your business. |
During the design process, we regularly use both Mac and PC computers
to check the site's appearance on all types of browsers. This
provides you with a site that maintains its appearance across
multiple browser platforms. Currently, we check Web site appearance
using the following browsers.
Windows
Browsers |
Firefox, Internet Explorer, Mozilla,
Netscape, Opera
|
Macintosh
Browsers |
Camino, Firefox, Internet Explorer,
Mozilla, Netscape, Opera |
When all coding and design work has been finalized, it will be
made available for your review and approval. When it has been
approved and the final payment has been received, the Web site
will be loaded onto your hosting server and published to the Web
using our proprietary system of web publishing and marketing.
This will include any additional marketing agreed upon.
All design work is guaranteed for 30 days. If you find an error
on our part within that time period, we will fix it free of charge.
This does not include updating information or adding content.
Web Site Maintenance
We do offer several maintenance plans under which we provide
regular work on your Web site to keep it current; if your business
plan involves regular changes, a maintenance plan will give you
a set number of hours of work per month. You can review our maintenance
plans under Other Services.
Maintenance is defined by TLC Media as changes to an existing
page, with the changes limited to either less than 50% of a page
or changes to a page that requires regular updating (determined
at the beginning of the plan). If a new page needs to be created,
that time will be billed as an update rather than maintenance.
Maintenance plans are for customers who expect to make regular
periodic changes to their site and provides a cost-efficient way
of budgeting for this. A maintenance plan includes the following:
- Up to 2 hours maintenance per month
- Adding or deleting keywords to reflect changes in client's
business
- Updating copyright information
- Resubmitting to search engines and directories
Web Site Update
An update is defined by TLC Media as one or
more of the following:
- Adding new pages
- Changing the logo or other graphics
- Changing the overall "look and feel" of the site
- Changing more than 50% of a page's content
- Resubmitting to search engines and directories (without
a maintenance agreement)
Web Site Hosting
In addition, we can provide web hosting on a yearly basis. Your
web host provides the server and the physical location where your
information is stored. This service has a separate fee and usually
allows for custom e-mail addresses and a mailing list.
